Poll Everywhere - Web Version

Poll Everywhere allows instructors to run polls at any time for class use. The web version has no built-in grading features and does not require students to log in via their HarvardKey to respond. 



Harvard Poll Everywhere Account

Log into your Harvard Poll Everywhere account with your Harvard Key. 


Creating Polls

Step 1.

  • Navigate to the "+ Activity" button on the Poll Everywhere home page.


Step 2.

  • Select the style of activity you wish to create.
    • Options range from multiple choice questions, surveys, and open-ended feedback.

Step 3.

  • Enter the information for your activity.
    • Type a title and any multiple choice options in their respective text boxes.
    • Click the "create" button in the bottom right of the screen.
      • Click the "add another activity" button to create an additional activity.

Step 4.

  • Configure your response settings.
    • The activity results screen allows you to control response methods and number of submission attempts.
    • Apply settings to your entire account via the "profile" icon in the global menu and clicking "activity settings"

Sharing Response Link

Step 5.

  • Select the "Send" tab
  • click "Share and embed" to expand that menu. 
  • At the top to copy the link to the activity.

Note: This link is how to students can directly access this particular activity, especially important if you have multiple simultaneous activities.


Presenting Polls

Step 5.

  • Activate your activity.
    • Click the "activate" button in the top right of the screen.
    • Once active, participants are able to respond via your determined methods.
      • The lock icon at the bottom of the screen prevents further responses.
      • You may also set locking via the "configure" menu on the right side of the screen.

Note: once your activity is live, you have the ability to send a test response via the "test" menu on the right side of the screen.



Step 6.

  • Present your activity.
    • The "present" button at the top right of the screen displays results in full screen. 
      • Note that this can be done regardless of activation status.


Organizing Polls


Step 7.

  • On the global navigation menu, select the "activities" icon and navigate to "my activities".

Step 8.

  • Sort your list of activities.
    • Your list of activities can be sorted by order number, response count or last modification date.
    • Click "+ Folder" to the right of the "+ activity" button to create a folder to organize activities.

Step 9.

  • Edit your activity list.
    • The "activate" button to the right of each activity title allows you to control activation status.
    • The checkbox to the left each activity's title presents options such as deletion, duplication, and locked status
