- Once Ed Discussion has been installed on your Canvas course site, it will be visible in the Canvas left navigation.
- Students will not have access to content until you activate it. Activation is quick - follow the steps below.
Share with your student the Ed Discussion How to and Support Guides in the Student Pocket Guide.
Step 1: Check settings
- Click on Ed Discussion in your Canvas course navigation menu
- Choose Discussion (inside of Ed)
- Select your preferred Discussion Features, view image of Discussion Features
- Add/delete/customize your discussion category labels
Step 2: Activate
- Select Activate in the top warning message. Activation will make content in Ed Discussion visible to students, view image of Activate Message
- Close the browser window for Ed after activating, and return to your Canvas site.
Step 3: Complete setup
- Click on Home in your Canvas course site navigation
- Choose Ed Discussion in your Canvas course site navigation
- Follow the prompts inside of Ed to complete the set-up and post a welcome message for students
- Using Ed Discussion: make full use of all the features
- Sync Roster to Ed Discussions: make sure students and staff have access
- Set Up Categories in Ed Discussion : organize for easily finding info related to a specific topic
- Ed Discussion Content Editor: easily input all types of content
- Ed Discussion Tips & Tricks: improve the Ed experience
- Ed Discussion for Mobile Devices
- For iOS, visit edstem.org in Safari and tap Share>Add to Home Screen.
- For Android, visit edstem.org in Chrome, tap the menu icon (3 dots in upper right corner), and select Add to Home Screen.
Visit the EdStem Help pages. You must be logged into Ed Discussions.
