Adding Extra Time to A Running Exam

If you choose to add time to a student's exam due to a disruption, you can use the Canvas "Moderating This Quiz" feature to give extra time for timed exams.

IMPORTANT NOTES: You can only extend the time while the student is still taking the exam. Quiz availability dates still apply when moderating a quiz. If the Until date passes when students are taking the quiz with extended time, the quiz auto-submits even if the student's time extension has not expired.

If you need to add time for Accessibility Accommodations, see our guide "Adding Time for Accessibility Accommodations". Extension School policy requires all accessibility needs to be handled by the Accessibilities Office. If a student has received an accommodation approval, the Accessibility Services Office (ASO) will reach out to you.
