- Proctorio is an optional online exam proctoring tool that works with Canvas Classic Quizzes.
- Instructors request a Proctorio install on their Canvas course site.
- Students and teaching staff download the Proctorio extension on a supported browser (Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave, or Opera).
- The extension monitors students while they take a Canvas quiz or exam.
- Proctorio can restrict and flag certain behavior.
- Commonly used settings include:
- Record a student’s computer screen while they are taking an exam.
- Record a student’s web cam while they are taking an exam.
- Restrict the ability to open new browser tabs or windows during an exam.
- Restrict the ability to open external programs during an exam.
- New Proctorio users are required to attend a one hour, one-to-one training appointment to ensure full understanding of the tool and appropriate settings to use.
