- Student View lets you experience your course the way that your students do.
- You will see only what you, as the instructor, allow your students to see.
Notes:
- Each Canvas course has a separate Test Student account. Whenever you move to a new course you will need to enable Student View for that course.
- Submissions and scores for the Test Student do not affect course analytics.
- New Quizzes assessments should be previewed in New Quizzes and not taken as the test student. Test Student attempts cannot be reset and will affect analysis reports.
Step 1.
- Open Student View
- You can access Student View from most areas of your course page
- Click the "Student View" button at the top right of the page.
Step 2.
- View Course
- You can now view the course as a student user would see it.
- Students cannot see some links like instructors can.
- The pink box on the bottom of the screen indicates you are logged into Student View.
- You can now view the course as a student user would see it.
Step 3.
- Reset Student
- Clicking "Reset Student" will clear all activity that does not include any student interaction.
- For example, clicking the "Reset Student" button allows you another submission attempt for assignments as the Test Student.
Step 4.
- Leave Student View
- Click the "Leave Student View" button to return to your course in the instructor view.
