Step 1.
- Grade assignments
- Select "Grades" in the Canvas navigation.
- Select an assignment cell for a student.
- Enter the number of points earned.
Step 2.
- Post grades
- Select the three dots next to the assignment title in Gradebook
- Select "Post Grades" to release grades to students.
- Choose "Graded" to post grades in batches.
- If "Everyone" is chosen, any ungraded comments, and new or edited grades will be released automatically.
- Select "Post" to release grades.
Recommended as best practice: select "Graded" instead of "Everyone".
This ensures students who submit late will not see your comments and grades while you are still working on feedback.
Step 3.
- Locate submissions
- Select "Assignments" in the Canvas navigation.
- Open the Assignment you wish to grade.
- Choose "Speed Grader" near the top right of your screen.
- Navigate through submissions using the controls at the top right of your screen.
- Select the carrot on the right of the controls to display a drop-down list of all students.
Step 4.
- Review submissions
- Annotate student submissions using the tool bar
- Assign a grade, make comments, and view rubrics.
- Comments can also include attachments or video content
- Note: choose "Submit" to save comments or they will not be sent to the student when you post the grade. Otherwise they will remain in draft state and not be sent to the student.
