- For a new course site layout, choose one of the three below for your course site.
- Fill out a Canvas course site request and the layout you select will be applied to your course site.
- Remember: the three layouts just provide a basic foundation to get your course site up and running. Additions and modifications can be made throughout the term.
Default: Homepage
- Your Canvas course site will display the Default Homepage layout on the front page unless a different design layout has been applied to the site.
Option 1: Modules
- The Modules front page option is best for organizing your content by date, topic, and/or unit.
- Organize your content in lists.
- Create content on the fly, or connect content you've already uploaded or built.
- Use the module's advanced options to control content release and set benchmarks.
Option 2: Course Materials
- This front page option is best for less content-heavy course sites.
- Pre-linked content pages for bios and resources, ready for you to fill in. Easy to add and link other Canvas pages.

Option 3: Content Rich Navigation
- The content-rich navigation option is best for organizing a course with weekly content.
- Front page with targeted, clear-cut navigation.
- Each weekly button is pre-linked to cleanly designed content pages, ready for you to fill with course material.
