Preparing for working on your Canvas site (recommended).
This process greatly simplifies your file management on Canvas, especially if you have many documents.
To upload individual files to Canvas, skip to step 4.
On your Computer
Step 1.
- Create a Folder on your Desktop
Step 2.
- Organize your Files
- Give files descriptive names (i.e. Brain Labels).
- Create subfolders and put each file in the appropriate folder.
Step 3.
- Compress or Zip the main folder (i.e. Meditation and the Brain)
- Right-click on the folder and select:
- Compress (if a MAC) or Zip (if a PC).
- Right-click on the folder and select:

Upload Files to Canvas
Step 4.
- Navigate to the “Files” tab in the left-hand course navigation menu
Step 5.
- Click on the “Upload” button. Locate the file on your computer. Click Open.
- If the file you are uploading is a .zip file (as recommended), select “Expand It”.
- If the file you are uploading is a .zip file (as recommended), select “Expand It”.
Step 6.
- File Upload Progress
- Canvas will provide a progress bar to let you know how much longer the file will take to upload.
- DO NOT navigate away from the page while the file is uploading.
