Monday, January 9

Implement Active Learning Design with Feedback Fruits

  • Facilitators: Joanna Do & Feedback Fruits

Description: Join us to discover how Feedback Fruits facilitates learning journeys, offers insight into the learning process, and links asynchronous activities with class moments.

4pm – 5pm

Bridging The Class and the "Real World"

  • Facilitator: Karina Lin-Murphy 

Description: In this workshop, we'll explore ways you can connect what students learn in class to their future practice – in their work or in their lives. We'll discuss how you can choose readings and develop activities that give your students a more genuine experience of using what they've learned in their work or in a new career. We'll also discuss ways you can bring what students are already experiencing in their jobs and experiences into the classroom.

Using New Zoom Tools to Enhance Student Engagement

  • Facilitators: Susan Goldstein & Michael Kilmurray

Description: Learn to effectively use tools that Zoom has recently developed such as Whiteboards with sticky notes and templates, more poll options, accessibility features, apps and more to keep your students engaged.

Description: In this workshop, we’ll talk about presenting and organizing the content –readings, slides, and more – in your course and finding the balance between giving information that students need without overwhelming them.

  • Facilitator: Lisa Klein Pearo

Description: This session will review the more advanced options available to you to create a rich, comprehensive syllabus with our new Simple Syllabus Tool.

2pm – 3pm 

Teach Partnerships Spotlight

  • Facilitators: Kerry Foley & Sara Makiya 

Description: In this session, Kerry Foley and Sara Makiya will review the Teach Partnership program and share recent projects. You’ll learn how faculty can collaborate with the Learning Experience Design team to deepen student engagement through targeted projects and interventions, such as redesigning activities and assessments, organizing course content in Canvas, and creating custom multimedia learning assets such as welcome or instructional videos, visuals, and infographics.

Description: In this workshop, we’ll talk about pedagogical practices you can implement in your Harvard Extension School class to build community and encourage interaction in your class. We will also discuss managing interaction in your Zoom classroom.

Improv for Educators

Description: In this interactive workshop, we’ll explore how the tenets of improvisation can help foster a supportive learning environment. Participants will exercise active listening skills, embrace mistakes as a part of growth, learn through play, and reflect on how improv’s “yes, and” philosophy can be helpful in the classroom.
